NVHAA Registrations

NOTE:

  • If COVID-19 safety protocols are necessary, all athletes and families will be required to follow NVHAA and  team safety guidelines.
  • With some teams, priority may be given to returning players, then new players.
  • See Player Eligibility on Main Menu to see who is eligible to participate in NVHAA.
  • Registrations will close once maximum capacity is reached.
  • Registrants will be notified of their status once they are registered.
  • Athletes may register for only one primary sport in a season i.e. either Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, or Cheerleading in the Fall.

NVHAA has created an easy and efficient way for families to register and pay for NVHAA sports programs. Please Create an Account or Login at the top of the page, then click the appropriate link to the left to register and pay. Once you are finished, all data is automatically saved to a secure site. Payment processing meets the highest levels of security. Note:  When you create an account, a Connect to Website box may appear next to your name in the top toolbar which allows you to confirm individuals in your household that you want as members of this site.

Please note that when you create an NVHAA account, you acknowledge that NVHAA will periodically send you emails and announcements.

To return to the Registration Home from any page, please click on the My Organizations on the toolbar at the top right next to the envelope which lists the member's emails.

Multiple athletes can be registered for the same team at a time before paying. However, families must register and pay separately if registering athletes for different sports teams, since each team is associated with its own bank account.

Please feel free to contact nvhaassoc@gmail.com with any questions about registration or payment.

Thank you,

NVHAA

NVHAA Spirit Wear for FIRST TIME NVHAA ATHLETES

All New NVHAA Athletes receive as a GIFT from NVHAA, FREE of charge, a one-time issue of an NVHAA T-shirt, Hooded Sweatshirt, Sweatpants, and team bag. A value of approximately $85+. These items will be issued when an athlete registers for his/her first full season NVHAA team.

NOTE: In order to keep costs low, Spirit Wear Orders are placed three times a year, at the start of each sports season - approximately 1 Mar, 1 Aug, 1 Dec. Spirit wear can be ordered by families at this time. If interested in purchasing Spirit Wear, then complete the Sports Engine online order form prior to the first day of your teams season. You will be contacted by the Spirit Wear Coordinator when it arrives.

*IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION*

NVHAA considers it is a privilege to serve homeschool families in Northern Virginia. It is an all-volunteer run organization that consistently charges athletes 20-25% less than what it costs NVHAA to operate a sports team. In addition, the organization has to meet strict insurance standards.

As such, the athlete's Team Registration Payment, Player's Team Insurance must be paid, and the current Sports Physical entered into the NVHAA Sports Engine registration system NLT one week from the team's season start date.

NVHAA is working with Sports Engine to link an athlete's physical with ALL their registrations. However, until we are able to do that, an athlete's Sports Physical must be uploaded with EVERY NVHAA registration that is filled out.

For the safety of the player, FAILURE to comply will result in the athlete not being able to participate in practices or competitions until conditions are met.

We appreciate your support and understanding and are working hard to make the registration process as easy as possible for all.

IMPORTANT VHSAA Eligibility Rules

As a member of the Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association (VHSAA), NVHAA and its players have to abide by certain player eligibility rules, as well as movement of players from one home school sports program to another.

The Main Points are as follows:  According to VHSAA Bylaws and Handbook:

*VHSAA PLAYER ELIGIBILITY STANDARDS are as follows:

*See left page menu for explanation of NVHAA "Player Eligibility".

  1. All rostered players on VHSAA sports teams must be currently Homeschooled (Filed “Notice of Intent” to Homeschool with County of residence, filed religious exemption with the County of Residence, or certification as Certified Tutor. Reference is https://heav.org/virginia-homeschool-laws/)
  • A player is eligible if the player:
  • Is 18 years of age our younger as of August 1st of that current school year.
  • Is not enrolled in college as a student. A player who is dual enrolled (home schools and takes college courses but is not enrolled as a college student.) is permitted to play in VHSAA events.
  • Has not participated in a graduation ceremony or received a high school diploma.

Transferring Between Organizations:

1. Multi-sport athletes are required to play all sports with the same program or organization, unless the athlete competes in a sport not offered by that organization, in which case they’re free to play for any organization offering that sport.

2. Players, who wish to change from one sports organization to another, must meet certain requirements and if necessary, follow a process requesting approval from VHSAA.

3. The rules apply to all VHSAA member programs.

4. The rules provide stability for home school sports programs, allowing them to grow and develop without the unexpected loss of players to competing organizations.
